What was at one time fishing and vacation resort nestled on the eastern shores of Whidbey Island between Coupeville and Greenbank, Shangri-La Shores retains its character as an island getaway thanks to having one road access the neighborhoo as well as a private pier, boat launch and beach that is home to some great crabbing. Shangri-La near the Navy’s Outlying Field, located off Highway 20 on central Whidbey Island. Outlying Field is a training area for jet pilots who practice touch-and-go landings. The Navy makes efforts to inform residents about upcoming training exercises.

Shangri-La Shores is located between two historic communities – the Town of Coupeville and Greenbank Farm. Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve, and its recreational opportunities, is west of Shangri-La Shores as is Outlying Field and the ferry sailing from Keystone Harbor to Port Townsend. Freeland, Langley and Clinton, which has a ferry connecting to Mukilteo, is further south.
